Best Alarm System
thanks for the info, so i am pretty much final now, the clifford 50.5, with glass breakage sensor, tilt sensor, piezo siren, and backup battery. i've been thinking about the window module, does it go up and down with the aux button or does it go up when i lock my car. i think i might get it and just go all out on this alarm, sounds kind of cool.
For the location of the brain should i put it under the dash, is that a good location to have and the other location i am thinking about is behind the gauge cluster. or is there a more reliable location. which would you recommend?
since your talking about the window track already i have a quick question, my window is going up kind of slow, does this mean i should get some oil for the window tracks or could it be problem somewhere else? if i do oil up the window track, which ones do i get.

well to oils ask a honda dealership... when i had them i had a towncar and i got the special lube from ford. it works great im sure honda has some kinda lube to put around the tracks....
as to the brain location just make it hard to reach! and tie it up out of the way. dont just put it under the dash just tucked up there within reach...
and the window modules are often different. MOST of them just control the windows ONE WAY.... so if you want to go up and down youll need 2 modules... some go both ways tho. and only a few have the VENT feature. the way they work is you arm the system, the windows roll up and then you use like the trunk release button on the remote or output you decide and the module will crack the windows out 1inch. its been awhile since i had the power window module units. i got lucky and had 2 good ones to control all 4windows that did everything. tho it was a no name brand...
now I THINK this unit will do all 3...

tho these units are alittle more involved in wiring..... most difficult part is getting the wires for the remote control unit INTO THE DRIVERS DOOR!!!!! good luck on that! the module is easier to mount inside the drivers door so you have to run the POWER/GROUND, and the wires to the alarm. im thinking 2 other wires... one when arming the system, one for alarms extra output.
but i would recommend to put a plastic bag and taping it up around the module to keep it dry.....
you can still do it yourself but geting the wires is a PITA. and you do want to fuse the power wires for all the extra toys..... so pick up a few inline fuses at autozone or off ebay as well

sure are alot cheaper off ebay in bulk..... you can never have enough inline fuses if you like projects on your car.....

i think i am going to go with the 529t, the one that only rolls up the window when i arm the car. but i need to fix my passenger side window first. but do you know whats happening... so when i roll up my passenger side window when it gets to the top before the glass tucks into the black weather stripping it gets stuck there, so it wouldn't roll all the way up. seems like the glass is going straight at the black weather stripping and stays on top of it, but not in front of it so that the glass can continues going up. do you know what i am talking about?

not really sure what ya mean.... but IMO spend the extra cash and get the one i linked to... as a PLUS... to roll down the windows or even roll them up is a simple TOUCH of the factory window switch either up or down and it should roll the windows down and up fully.
i had the same style on my old towncar and all ya had to do was flick the switches and let the module do the rest of the work.
so ya dont have to sit there and hold the button.
needed.... na... cool.... YELL YA

i am just wondering if this is the part that will let me have a automatic trunk release with a push of a button on the remote.

which one is better? omega seems to be more expensive, is there a reason for that? do i need anything else to open my trunk by pressing a button on the remote. Will i even be able to do this remote trunk release on my 99 civic coupe since the car has a trunk release lever on the floor?
I also see that there are sirens that has a backup battery in them, should i go for these or should i just get a backup battery for the siren that comes with the Clifford?

Good luck running the remote trunk release. I have been scratching my head trying to figure out where I am going to put mine. Others suggested that I add another trunk release cable and hook the actuator up somewhere inside of the trunk, but the only problem is I went with a door lock actuator instead of a trunk pop solenoid. One of these days I will figure it out (lol). Until then, you should see the looks I get from my neighbors faces when I stand there staring at the trunk and scratching my head. It is priceless!
think i might have a shop worry about wiring it, is there a difference between the solenoid and the actuator. i thought the door actuators actually work to push up the trunk? do you recommend me getting one for my clifford? or would it just be a waste of money
just get the cheaper solinoid... the more expensive one is also used for doors. will pull 35lbs thats for really sticky door latches if your shaving the door handles
as to where to mount the thing... well i havent tried to do mine yet. i have several of the cheapies laying around just never tried to hook it up yet. but i think if i was to hook it up i would delete the rear key hole and use that key linkage to pop the trunk lid. see if you put it on the other cable linkage then everytime you pop it your front release handle will have more stress every time you use it and can break or crease that cable.

i didnt see the clifford had a backup battery. but the backup battery is usualy just for the alarms brain, not the siren specificaly.... they do have those backup battey sirens but IMO they are crap as well... they use a key to turn them off if the wires where cut BUT if they are within reach for the key then they can simply stuff a rag into the siren to quite it down. and then its pointless! at least IMO they are crap...
