Default Bloody engine noise....

So I have my speaker and sub amps in my trunk and they are grounded pretty crappily. I just wanted toputmy systemin FAST. So yeah, I have engine noise like crazy. Now that I have some more time, I'd like ground them a bit better. Any suggestions? I have my power, remote andright front speaker wires running on the right side, and all my A/Vs and my left front speaker wire running on the right side. I know I should probably get the right speaker wire running with the power wire, but I don't have enough extra wire to do that right now. For my ground I really just sanded the paint away from a hole in the floor of the trunk and screwed a bolt down to that.

I'm thinking of possibly sanding away all the paint around one of the back pillars, taking a screw down and screwing my wires to that. What do you think?

Anything else that could possibly be causing so much engine noise?

Make sure that you HU is grounded well first. Always work form the top of a system down to the speakers.

And when you ground your HU dont use the little black wire that the factory unit used. Ground it to the body of the car.

Let me know if that fixes most of it. If not we will try something else. Anybody wanna jump in on this one?

Also make sure you keep the wirees away from the center of the car, thats where the fuel pump is, and i found out the hard way that that messes with your subs. ( horrible rumbling noise all the time)

Yeah, I'm running the power and remote on one side of the car, everything else on the other. Ground the HU... eh? Any suggestions as to where I should ground it?

There will be bunches of metal under the dash. Just clean off one of them, drill a hole, and then use a self tapping screw. Also, if you can round off the sharp end of the screw incase it rubs anything under there. You dont want a short under your dash.

Well, not unless you like thick white smoke pouring out from under the dash. LOL Good luck and let us know what happens.

No, no, I LOVE smoke and pretty sparks. They are my friends.Especially the green sparks. But yeah, since my thermastat is having issues and my car suddenly enjoys overheating in traffic. Not much I can do to fix that until Monday, I'll probably end up doing thegroundtomorrow. I assume the firewall would be best in that case?

Not really. There should be a plenty of places the are closer than your firewall. And remember that you always want to keep your ground as short as you can.

Oh and also remember this: "All electronics work on blue smoke. If you let the blue smoke out, they quit working."

I actually managed to fix it. Reeeeaaaally weird.
Last night I decided I was finally going to FIX my freaking power and ground cables to my sub amp. I got this crappy cheap stuff awhile back just to hold me over. So, I took out my power and ground cables for the sub, left the speaker amp hooked up, went to buy better cables today and noticed while I was driving that hey, the engine noise is gone! I also just regrounded the battery better 2 gauge wire (the old wire was factory 8 gauge. horrible). So I'm not sure if that caused it, or vise versa. Regardless though, I put the new wire in, andits fixed. Yay! Note to self - NEVER get wire from a hardware store, even as a quick fix. :P
