Default capacitor even though i dont need one

hey my cousin gave me a capacitor and i have it hooked up to my amp that is only powering a single 250 watt sub thats rarely on anyways, would the capacitor drain my battery even more if I dont really need it? What numbers am I looking for in terms of voltage?
thanks

it won't drain your battery

i'm actually doing the same thing... bought an amp from someone on here, and he included the sub and a cap. pawned the sub, used the ones i already had, and hooked up the cap.

i want to keep it - incase i do upgrade in the future, and plus i'll never be able to buy it for the price that i can get it sold for.

does voltage above 12 seem okay?

my amp was draining my battery horribly, so i had it disconnected. at partsource, they said to get a capacitor, and that would allow me to have my amp still hooked up.

is this true?
