Actually, I have used a capacitor to get rid of an alternator whine that had myself and four other professionals stumped. A buddy of mine in California actually recommended a 1 farad cap to filter out the whine and it worked. Later, I found out the problem was with my Rockford Fosgate 4.6x because its noise rejection circuit was shot.

Oddly, I successfully utilized a capacitor for something that it was not marketed for at the time. I have a capacitor just sitting here that I am thinking about using, just for the sheer fact that I have it and I may use it to extend a 1/0 run. I will also have the BS factor where I can tell the unknowing that they are not useless (lol).

is this true?
the amp was draining your battery because the remote wire must have not been properly hooked up.
the remote wire tells the amp when to turn on and off (when you turn the key on or off)

You do realize that a capacitor stopping your lights from dimming is the equivalent of putting a band aid on cancer right? You need to address the bigger problem sooner or later otherwise you will be replacing your alternator at an alarming rate!
