Default Chimer dismantle on 2008 Civic

Can anyone tell me if I can dismantle the door/ignition chime? I do it on all my cars, but on this one I don't know how to get the stereo trim off to get to the chime speaker. I see the chimer is behind the little slotted area on the stereo trim. Don't want to break anything. Thanks.

I would look and listen again.... the chime should come from down under the dash ....
It is normally built in to the fuse box...

I would agree, it's probably in the Multiplex Control Module attached to the fuse box. The module does a lot of essential stuff so you can't just unplug the whole thing. You'd need to take the module apart and disconnect the speaker inside. Disconnect the battery (after making sure you have all the codes, etc. needed to recover from disconnecting the battery) before unplugging it because it's part of the computer system.

Codes? So I can't just unhook the battery and hook it back up?

I am determined to kill this chimer because it drives me mad. It's much more annoying than any other cars I have owned.
