Default fog light trouble

Bought crappy ebay lights (yeah i know) so they worked fine until one of the bulbs blew out. So i replaced it and the old bulb lights up and you can see the new one lights up half as strong then the fuse blows. Its a 30 fuse. Would i risk starting a fire if i use a 40 fuse?

The answer is yes. Recheck the wiring and make sure you don't have any shorts. That is most likely your problem.

you sure ya got the right bulb?
and is it a regular bulb or one of those immitation HID color bulbs? if its a fake hid bulb ive heard they pull ALOT OF JUICE to power them!

but another thing to check out is unplug the good bulb and put the new bulb in that fog light and see if its still half lite and try the old bulb in the other sides fog light, if the dim stays on that one side of the car with both bulbs then its wiring, if the bulb is still half lite on the other side then you could just have a faulty bulb thats shorting out internaly..... its a posibility, just swap the bulbs around to eliminate the posible stock wiring short.

Yeah i actually ought some hid wannabes first and it just blew the fuse, then i went to the store and bought some regular ones and it still blew. I wanna try putting that higher fuse in, but i dont wanna risk burning my car up lol

Did you check the wiring. I know one of the bulbs work sometimes but seriously check for a short somewhere.

ok i changed the fuse to 30 (thats the one the set came with) then i turned it on and went to the front of the car, both foglights were on and bright, then after like 5 seconds one turned off and the other one got really dim, it stayed that way for like 5 more seconds then the fuse blew. So i tried a 40 fuse, none of the lights turned on and when i went back to the car, the fog light cables were smoking. Im guessing it will be some wire touching bare metal or wiring got screwed up somehow?
