Thumbs down Front Alpine Type R 6.5s install question

Several major audio places say that the Alpine Type R 6.5s will fit perfectly in a 6th gen Civic. I have just discovered that they DO NOT. Has anyone had to modify their door panels to get around this? I need some input ASAP.

They do fit, but you will have to cut out the plastic housing behind the factory speaker.

Easiest way to do it would be will a dremel tool. but it could also be done with an air saw or small hand saw.

I have type r 6.5 components and you can make them fit

I need a dremel, so I'm going to a friend's house. I decided that a jigsaw just won't cut it.

haha, joke.

But really, I figured out how to use the black plastic rings they give you, so it'll be a cleaner and rattle free install with minor cutting of the door panel.

Pics will be up in my update thread soon!

I am getting ready to slap some CDT components in my 1997. Any advice on sticking the CDT TW-25 tweeters in the factory tweeter pods? For the life of me, I can't remember how the factory tweeter mounts.... I am sure I will remember as soon as I pull the door panel and tweeter pods out.

tweeters are hit or miss. either way it has to be custom some how... i got lucky with my REaudio components and the tweeters just VERLY fit in the stock tweet locations! and i mean VERY VERY TIGHT! but i did have to cut off the rear mounting tab and had to use hot glue on the tweeter pods to hold them to the door afterwards.

but ive heard of alot of people that had to fab up there own tweeter pods because the tweeters where to large for the holes. so until you try to fit them ya dont know if they will or not. sorry.

the factory tweeter uses a bolt & nut setup in the pod.

with my alpine tweeters I used some plastic epoxy to hold the tweeter to the pod. I mounted them almost a year ago and have had no problems at all with them. It all just depends on the tweeter itself cuz they are all different.

I ended up using the black rings that Alpine provided. They worked well in the end. I'll be updating my thread once these pics upload.
