Default GAIN GAIN GAIN

ok.. well i am having a problem.. i have two pheonix gold octane 5 subs and a old alpine v12 mrv1200 or sumthin like that.. dont remember the exact model off the top of my head.. but me and my friend set it all good and so its clear and stuff.. but all i need now is the bass to be louder.. we have the gain turned wayy wayy down.. would it change the sound of the bass if i turned up the gain or just the loudness.. cause i wanna have it louder with the high/low travel it has now.. like it sounds good just tooo quite for my likeing and i used to have it pound WAYY harder but i can't remember my god damn settings hahaha

There are a few variables....like the enclosure.
The input sensativity setting on the amp.
The tone controls on the deck. (what type of head unit do you have?) Does it have sub out?
Set your tone controls flat. set the XO point on the amp at say 70 cycles, shut the "bass boost" off, set the gain all the way down. Turn the volume 2/3 UP, then slowley turn up the gain on the amp! If you don't get sound you like, turn the gain down a bit, and turn on the boost. If the boost is adjustable (which it should be) bring it up 1/3, then start bringing the amp gain back up. Get your desired sound.....THEN do some slight tweeking on the deck. Should improve sound if the enclosure is to spec.

O.K. I have to butt in here. The gain is NOT a volume control. Read the GAIN section here and it should answer all your questions.

Basic Car Audio and Electronics

It is section 63 in the menu on the right hand side of the screen. Good luck and remember to take your time!!!
