They really should make the cable detachable at both ends, at the radio and at the actual antenna.

yea i guess it was just one of those things that they figure people would never really need to replace on their own.

wrong. ha. its a real bitch trying to get it down that pillar... tried using nylon rope, regular like kite rope type ****, than used some welding wire and **** which helped...thing thing was it kept getting hung up on something that we couldnt see becuase well it was like all the way down the shaft and its like the stupid pillar..

haha if any of that made sense at all it was just frusterating because the instructions said "easy" yea ill never believe that again.

I'm having the same problem. I pulled up at a petrol station the other day and decided it was time for a quick wash to rid the car of all the salt and general road crap that has been building up over the last couple of weeks or so. So I go inside to pay for a full all-singing, all-dancing wash/clean/dry/wax. Then the lady said I'd need to remove my antenna if I'm to use it, as the brushes will rip it off! So I go back to my car, and neither me or the GF couldnt figure it out. It doesnt unscrew or push down. I take it this is normal then?! I had to go back and get a refund in the end as I wasnt willing to chance it. I presumed it may be an electric aerial, and didnt really want to force it.

Oh well, spose I'll stick to good olde elbow grease for the time being - a soapy sponge and warm water works better than car washes anyday I spose...
