Yeah I have 4 of those boxes with black think, half plastic half metal messhy stuff over the woofers. Which I was thinking about taking two off and putting on the box. Or I was also thinking liek a peice of plexie glass to sepperate the subs from the rest of the truck, with like some holes in it. But idunno, having them face the seats just sounds easier to do, I'm just not sure how it would sound. I thinkI'm just guna go ahead and get them and figure it out from there.

Are you going to get a sealed or vented box? if it is vented, you can have them face your seats and not worry too much about the sound. If the box is sealed, make sure that the mesh cover will stick out far enough so that the woofer will not hit the mesh, and then have them face the rear of the car. This is because in a sealed box, the woofer generally has a longer excursion (not always), so just keep that in mind.

it works best when you have plently of room, as well as symmetrical space for the speaker's sound waves to 'bounce' off of. so facing a seat will only muffle the sound and bass of the sub.

well im firing mine forwards mostly to eleminate trunk rattling
but i do agree the subs sound beter firing rear.... BUT with a good SQ sub it will still sound great forwards... ya just cant use crapy subs.LOL

but if you want the loudest, most forgiving sound do the firing rear...
and for the grill for the sub just go buy a speaker grill from radio shack..... the large waffle may look like crap BUT give you the most security from keeping your subs from being damaged!

OR come up with your own..... some threaded rods and nuts, even a few pieces of MDF to kinda enclose the subwoofer... but remember to drill some circle holes in the mdf all over so air pressure and sound can get thru easily BUT also keeping out other junk THEN to finish it off just get some speaker box grill material and just cover the grill to hide all them holes.... sure it wont look good BUT your equipment is protected.....

OR another idea.... build a open box to fit on the side of your trunk with it been preaty deep of a box and put your skate board or what ever inside it.... just make it deep enough so the stuff wont just fall out when taking a corner

just a few ideas you can kick around.... just think it out and deside which one you like.... ya want style and security... or just security....

Okay I Installed them last night faceing the back seats. With a couple of inches inbetween. It sounds great, not much rattleing besides the rear deck, but im sure that happens with everyones system. I'll hopefully have pics up later today.

well this is how my setup is.... sorry i deleted most my build pictures BUT thats preaty much how mines setup... and well if your 6x9s are rattling your rear deck... well im wondering WTF...LOL
i am missing a few clips on my rear deck panel but its nothing to make it rattle...

see how its setup... if you open your seats and look up under it youll see a metal brace that goes along side to side... i have mine cut so tight with just the mdf and then the carpet makes it even tighter...
and now that i think about it it MIGHT be whats keeping it from rattling.... seeing how its so tight it would preaty much stiffen that deck brace....
