You may have a bad cluster. I'm pretty sure that all models are wired for a tach even if they didn't have one originally. It would be a blue wire leading to the cluster.

Isn't there a sensor inside the distributor that gives the tach the signal? Perhaps the sensor in the distributor is bad?

well ive been looking around and askin ppl and im thinking that maybe i could run the wire from the cluster to the distributor and splice into 1 of the wires that would run the tach but the problem is idk the wire i need 2 splice into? so does ne1 think that would work?

On a stock '93, the tach wire is the small wire from the distributor plug with two wires. The tach signal comes out of the ICM on a pin dedicated for that purpose. Check that wire for continuity back to the cluster and shorts to ground.

If you have an engine swap, someone may have forgotten to hook up the tach wire in the harness.
