u need to spend alot of money to get a system that is better than everyone elses in a parking lot...if you're competing or something then yea u need to spend the money...but otherwise you can get a whole system..a pair of comps, rear speakers, head unit, 4 channel amp, sub(s) and amp for around $1,200 and it will sound really good. especially for us people on this site were driving civics not escalades

$1200 budget you can do WAYYY better that Sony, if they think your stuff sounds good, with a $1200 budget I could get you somethin that would make them **** them selves.

i spent a grand on my system,( a little over that maybe 1100) 2 jlW3's, Crossfire amp, crossfire rears, sony head unit upper end (only thing sony that touches my car),...................... but then again, i get discounts at factory price running the store and all. But yeh, 1200 is a budget for a way better than sony system, not knocking sony completly, but price for sony you can get better quality same price. If you want an example, let me know.

lol, 2X rockford fosgate P2's- $160, rockfore fosgate P325.1- $180, 2 sets alpine type-s's $140, sony head unit decent $120, sealed box $100 GRAND TOTAL.... $700, not a big fan of rockford, or those cheap alpines, but i cant deny they are GREAT for beginer systems and awsome budget build, and also everything there is a big improvment over stock..... so yeh... make of it what you will

wal mart stuff sucks, i would go to an actual car audio dealer such as best buy or circuit city. sony car audio is crappy cheap chit. spend your money on somehting you wont need to place a year down the road. go with alpine or JVC or something reliable
i'm guessing you're referring to Sony, so i'll just let you know i haven't replaced my sony speakersand i've had them for a few years, and no problems, actually, all i've recieved have been compliments from people that own competition speakers from alpine and JVC on how great it sounds. unless you enter competitions, there's no need to spend more on the sound system than the car itself, this isn't the hood (at least not where i live)

and just ask yourself, why is sony one of the top selling brands at best buy and circuit city?

...Because it is cheap and looks cool and stupid teenagers think it sounds good. The best equipment out is far far far from being top sellers.

because normal people have the common sense to put the money into something that you'll get more out of. and i guess you consider me a "stupid teenager", so now we see how immature you really are.

and i'm done now, you're just another run of the mill person that thinks you have to buy the pricest equipment, and everything else is trash!

Lol, well first off I have FAR from the pricest equipment. My equipment is pretty cheap and will blow away top price **** (JL for ex.). Nor do I know if your a stupid teenager or not but most of the time it is stupid kids running Sony, Audiobahn, ect, and you know that is true. And I put more money into it because I want to, it is my hobby, I love car audio. I already have retirement funds and savings accounts set up for when I am out of college, so my extra money goes into my hobbies .
