i have a 93 del sol. 70 amp alternator with no known uprgrade less than $800.00 i have power cap and a 200 watt amp. battery is not new but seems to work fine. has anybody hooked up subs to this type of electric system? was there a power draw (lights dimming?) im looking for a cheap fix or to take out amp all together.

 

it should be fine to run your amp even if the lights dim a little. you could always get another alternator and build a custom mounting bracket and run two alternators. or run two batteries

 

You could also look for a local alternator rebuild shop and see if they can rebuild your alternator for you at a higher amperage ( I had this done and went from 60A to 114A)
you can sometimes get a really good boost in output power. Check around. and it usually costs less than buying a new alternator, ESPECIALLY a High Output alternator. I would say in the $120-$150 range at MOST. Let us know how it progresses.
