Ok guys,
I just got this amp:http://www.xplodsony.com/xplod/amplifiers/XM-2002GTR
Here are the specs for the amp:
1200W max power200W x 2 RMS into 4 ohms500W x 1 RMS into 4 ohms[*]High Level Sensing Power On[*]Variable 50 - 300 Hz low pass filter[*]40 Hz EQ boost[*]Line level thru-put[*]MOSFET output stage & power supply[*]RCA & speaker level inputs[*]CEA-2006 Power Compliant[*][*][*]Now I got the MTX RTP212 subs with box and came with a amp (I'm upgrading the amp with this sony one) The subs are 2OHMs each and it only comes with one terminal on the back a postive and a negative. How in the world do I make this work? Or do I need a differnt amp? This is driving me nuts.

to get the full 500watts RMS, you need to connect them in series, the positive of one sub to the other subs negative, then the other terminals remaining (one from each sub) needs to be connected to the amp with the right polarity. you need to hookit up on the amp in bridge mode (one wire on the positve of one channel, and one wire on the negative of the other channel), if you dont know what I mean by bridge mode, look in the instruction manual, it will probably tell you how. If on the other hand, you hooked only one sub each channel, the amp specs states that you will only get 400watts RMS.

Your subs are 4 ohm drivers. The are wired into a 2 ohm load. (parallel)
You need a mono amp, NOT a 2 ch. An amp that will deal with what your drivers are going to ask of it.
That Sony @ a 2ohm load will get hot and shut off..... and only a few times. enjoy it while you can.
Any how, with 2 4ohm subs your gonna ask TOO much, or NOT enough from the Sony amp, depending on how you
configure the subs.
