did you disconnect the battery b4 install?

baybella, if only the shifter light doesn't come on, i'd check the cluster bulb.

i had the same porblem but not from installin the cd player...i changed all of the bulbs in the cluster and it worked but then it wouldnt work sometimes...i am guessing it was a short or a ground problem somewhere...when it wouldnt work i could push up on the shroud and it would come on....i havent had the pproblem in a while so i dont know what fixed it...i have a 91 though...try pushing up on the shroud over the gauges and see if it comes on...oh yea after i changed the bulbs my cluster would work sometimes and soemtimes it would blink or just not work...does yours do this?

unplug the radio and see if they work, also, if you are using an electrical tester to check the fuses, make sure the headlights are on when you check them. if they work when the radio is unplugged, then you wired up the ground wrong, ground it to metal.
