JBL GTO927 6x9 quality
I'm going to be installing a new pair of 6x9's in the rear deck in my 03 coupe. I know there are only a handful of 6x9's that will fit back there without some cutting. One of the speakers recomennded by crutchfield was the JBL GTO927 6x9s. I was wondering if anybody has heard anything about this speaker or if you have a pair of 6x9s to recommend I would love to hear. Remember two things 1) I don't want to do any cutting or modding the rear deck 2) All I am running is a factory HU..(no amps, subs etc.).
Thanks,
Steve

Almost completly incorrect. ^
For a n00b crutchfield will be fine because they can walk you through it when you call them.
Now, JBL is a hell of a bang for the buck. You will be fine with them. But any 6x9 will work. They are either recommending JBL because many people buy them or they are heavy on stock.
If you dont have a aftermarket cd player yet, i would start with that first. A cd player first is the best upgrade you can do to a car system because a speaker only puts out what a cd player will tell it.
And unless you want to get into it seriously, i dont think you would need an external amp to power the speakers. Hell, im not even using an amp for my speakers at the moment

Yeah, um... the RMS power has nothing to do with frequency response. The speaker will be able to hit any frequency between 50 and 21 kHz regardless of power. The RMS power rating of the speaker is how much RMS power the speaker can handle before it starts to distort or blow up.
I had a nice pioneer head unit I was going to put in because I had the Sirius and an Ipod adapter through the head unit. I ended up buying a starmate and hardwiring it to the power and into the with an aux adapter with two inputs the other for my ipod. I was interested in keeping the car looking stock (its an obsession). Anyway I will probably buy the JBLs unless anybody can recomend a different 6x9 for my money.

I have a similar JBL model (GTO920 6x9). They sounded good in my '00 Accord. When I put them in my '02 Civic, I lost all midrange I guess because of the deck panel. These speakers suck now and I'm doing research to find a better pair. Maybe Infinity Kappas.
