Make sure that the RMS on the subwoofers = the RMS per channel on the AMP

THIS IS VERY CRUCIAL TO THE QUALITY OF SOUND YOU WILL BE GETTING!!!!!

This can also be applied to regular coaxial speakers. If your deck puts out 17 watts RMS x 4 channels, find a speaker with lower RMS.

Example: My Pioneer HU puts out 22 RMS x 4. I have some 30 watt RMS Pioneer 6.5"s that sound pretty damn good for $30. Now, I also will be putting some Alpine Type-S (something like 50 watt RMS if I remember correctly) into the front, it may or may not sound very nice, and i might have to get a 4 channel amp to push a little more power to those puppies.

Yeayou probably will have to "break the bank"
but do it right the first time
and don't buy it a kit from best buy or circuit city
for god's sake, please.
Read up on posts here, do searchs on "subs" "amps" or whatever
Believe me, with a little time and research, you'll have a decent system for around your price range

I work at Best Buy and I will tell you the only subwoofers worth looking at are the Alpine, Infinity, or Rockford
Everything else we carry (at my store at least) is trash.

Yup!! I also work at Best Buy(Store 788 FTW) and will tell you the same. Dont buy off brand speakers....its basically throwing your money away. If you are on a budget just get some Alpine tye-r component speakers, good 6x9's, and a decent 4-channel amp.

To hook up the 4 coaxial speakers I want in my car and a nice sub what kinda amp do I need? They can all work on one correct if its large enough to power them all? Or do I have one for the speakers and one for the subwoofer?

What should I expect to pay for a nice set of speakers? I see some for a set of two 6x9 like I need is over 100 at best buy. Then I would need the other size for the other two and then I need a amp which is another 100+. Is that about right?
Should I refrain from buying on ebay like a used or even new set because the warranty might be worth more than the savings? It might be only 20 bucks for a 100+ dollar set of speakers on ebay used or a little more for a new set.

I have a audiobahn flame q AW1206T. 2200watts max and 1100 watts rms hooked up to a power acoustik 980watt max amp and it pounds half way up.

I listen to Contemparary, Country, maybe what you call P & B? and Rock. Some rap but not much.
What type of box do I need?
