I've actually had very bad experiences with Alpine. I blew a 12 inch type R off 500watts, a v12 amp, and 5.25 inch type E door speakers within a month. I havent had anything bad to say about my kicker L5. You'd prolly be happy with dual if you havent heard any really high end stuff before.

my dad has alpine 6x9s and 6x5's in his car and it sounds great, i would ALMOST guess he has a little sub in there

i have pioneer components and an alpine HU and sub and it pumps SOOOO much better than a ****ty brand like Dual or Pyramid, its just ridiculous how with the same amp and HU how much better it is

I like Alpine as much as anyone, but I've been running the same 2 Crossfires for 2 years, and I added 2 more over the summer. I can't kill them. They won't die. I like that.

i would even go for something better then kicker if you ask me. but if you want kicker or dual...go kicker.
listen to this guy. Dual is about as good as stuff that you can get at Auto Zone. Kicker subs are pretty good.....but not that good. try a JL Audio 12W1V24.....it works great in small encolsures, has shallow mounting depth, only needs 200 watts to do the damn thing and will comploment ANY genre music you listen to. incredible sub for the money.

KICKER ALL THE WAY! I had alpine, sony xplode, and rockford fosgatespeakers in my civic and i blewall of them.(the alpine was typeS and typeE subs. So my bad on buying the cheap s*it) In my delsol i havesix6 1/2 speakers and one 15inch comp.sub with an alpine unit. Been having this setup since march and still never blew any of them. I lesson to my music load when we go to the lakefront. The duel is a cheap brand that has lights in there boxs. Its basically u get what u pay for when it comes with speakers and amps.

Kicker no doubt, I have two 12' Comp VRs that I occasionally put in my hatch and they hit pretty hard.
If you do go bigger, I'd say Polk or Audiobahn.
I'm not a fan of Alpine or Rockford Fosgate.
I had a single Audiobahn and it hit harder then two Alpines.
Fosgates just heat up and start fires.
