Default Mounting 6X9's in back of '97 Cx Need help

I just bought a 1997 Civic Cx which is my first car and i am looking to up the sound system cus it sucks to put it bluntly.

I have Two 6X9 speakers in carpeted boxes which i would like to somehow mount in the car... my original plan was to just mount them to the floor in the truck with L Brackets but the floor in the truck is just thin cardboard and i don't think that will go very well (unless someone has done it). Then i was thinking i could cut holes into the hatch? Mount them there. If anyone has any experience in this some help would be LOVELY! I would really like to throw those two speakers in the back, and maybe do something up front... also i have the original stereo with a casset if anyone has any ideas about changing that out that too, that would be great!

Thanks alot!

Hoping to have a great time with my new Civic

My idea is get rid of the 6x9s and get some nice 6" splits and do yourself a favour and get a aftermarket head unit too. They are easy as cake to install in the 97s. What rears does it come with standard?

I would like to try keeping the 6X9's cus they are comming out of my dads old truck for free... I was just thinking thought that i might be able to make a new cover for the spare with a latch out of heavier wood, so i could mount them there.... i know nothing of the car just got it today, didnt even think i was going to get a Civic haha.

Also on another note, does anyone know if these would fit on it?
