Default my new system

I just purchased half of my system, and I need some advice on the best thing to do with subs.

Currently I have an Eclipse CD3000 headunit, Focal 6 1/2's in the front and Alpine 6x9's in the back. I am using an Alpine Vpower 4 channel amp, I believe it is 480 max watts? MRP F250 is the product number.

I had to wait to get the subs because I am going to raise my trunk enough to allow me to fit a full size spare in it.

My question is, what subs would you folks recommend? and what amp? I am looking to spend around a grand or so on the subs, amp, box and installation. I may end up building a custom box as well though, so

Focals in the front, huh?

obviously, you're pretty serious about sound quality. They're not the Be's are they?

as for subs, since you got such a nice system going, no sense in skimping now. screw what everybody else says and just go to circuit sheety or worst buy and listen to all of their subs on the floor powered by a mono-block amp. then decide which one you like best, because subs sound different.

some are lose, some are tight, some are just plain lousy.

i'd personally go with the new Alpine self-enclosed woofer system boxes. they have several small woofers that act as one inside a sealed box. it's AWESOME.

i have 2 alpine type r subs in a slot ported box and a 1000w v12 series amp. this setup was about $850. but i bought it all off the internet so it ended up being about $500 cheaper than in the stores. they beat hard and are good sound quality. of course, theres jl but thats too expensive.

Damn... a grand just on the sub and amp stuff. You can get a nice custom install for that much. I paid $400 for a JL W6, JL amp (forget the watts), and a custom install (not finished yet) where the spare tire goes. I can take pics if any one is interested.

The amp for the sub is a JL e1200. The amp for the speakers inside the car is a Clarion APA450. I have them mounted on the seat for right now so they wont be thrown around in the trunk. After every thing is finished you will only see a 15" sub and all floor.
