i just found a badass authorized dealer of kicker onlike and the are sell solo baric L7's for 179.95 .... i'm thinkin i'm gonna oreder one... pretty sure.... i got an alpine amp thats rms is 800w (thats some gnarley **** right there).....so the problem is... what kind of box should i get ported, non ported, what is a good brand of boxes that are made(that could have just sounded dumb cuz i dont know alot about audio stuff) so ya someone lend some advice PLEASE...

 

Its what you prefer. I prefer sealed because i had ported and its a lot deeper bass, but to me it sounded like all the bass was stuck in the trunk

 

but like is there a certain brand of boox that better than others cuz a kicker box is like 200 bucks but i've seen some on ebay for like 70

 

well it depends on who made the box. ebay sellers usually make crappy boxes with crappy sealant. I bought a best buy box and its still good after around 6 years now.

 

dont buy a box from a store. Go to a local car audio shop and ask them to make u a box.
Now heres how it works
Sealed = Tighter hit, cleaner
Ported = Lower notes, possibly louder (that doesnt mean harder)
i wouldnt go any other way besides those. I also prefer sealed.
Im not a fan of kicker.. but if i did get one i would get an L7.
179 is the normal price on crutchfield for the L7s..... how much more are u willing to spend?
if it was me, i would rather have a JL Audio 12W3v3-4 for another 50 bucks. U can seriously push way more than 500 watts into that, and its gonna be clean and loud as hell.

 

i just looked up the price for a 12' kicker L7 and it was $450 on crutchfield and the rms rating on an L7 is 750w......... the amp i got is a alpine mrp-m850 its rms rating is 800 watts so i can turn it down alittle and it should sound fine and hit hardcore hard... i'm just gonna get a place to make me a box or i might make it.... just to see if i can... but thanks for all ya'lls help its been way great on makin my choice

 

Don't get a ported box, I got the same problem as the dude above. It bumps real hard with the trunk open, and it's really loud on the inside, but you barely hear anything on the outside. So if you want to bump get a sealed box, plus I'm pretty sure it's cheaper. Just make sure it meets the sub's specs.

 

why do u care how it sounds on the outside of the car..... LOL wow umm if u want to just be super loud... throw it in a HUGE box
