And like i said, car audio is at least 75% install. A sub in a box not built to fit the specs of that particular sub will have a bigger affect on SQ and SPL than buying a new sub.

You also left out building the subwoofer enclosure to the vehicle itself! It is a three fold system design process that some times works out OK and other times requires a lot of experimentation. A subwoofer enclosure that is tuned higher and sounds awesome in a Tahoe will generally have less sub bass output in a Civic.

Regardless, going with a prefab solution is usually hit or miss, and most times it is a MISS!
