Default New Car Audio

Hey all, I just bought a KDC-X791 head unit last wednesday. I gotta say, I'm really impressed, I've never heard stock speakers sound so good. I'm looking to buy an amp, speakers, and havent decided on 2 10's or a huge 12. Does Memphis Car Audio make good stuff? The local car audio place recommended them, and said they would give me a deal since I bought my head unit from them.

Do the speakers first, then a sub and amp, then an amp for the four speakers in the car.

You will be better off if you do it in that order. Trust me.

I agree with windcalmer as to the order to do things. If you can, try to add two tweeters near the side view mirrors (like in 7th Gen EX). I would also recommend one sub (10 or 12 inch) unless you really want to rattle the car!!! I got all JL Audio stuff and couldn't be happier.

Memphis audio is very underrated, I think they're a good company with good products but I don't hear much about them. I personally don't have any memphis equipment, but a friend has a couple subs and they sound great. I went the route of buying the speakers first, then an amp for them, then I installed my subs and amp. worked great for me.

If you wanna optimize your factory Interiors. And Get Everything you can from them try this. Well first go into your car and play a song off a cd. Make sure you listen to it and hear the clean sounds you think you have now. Well take our all your drivers i.e. speakers. Buy either some double sided tape or some strip caulking. Well what your gonna do it make sure you get a proper acustical seal. Well Where the gasket is on the speakers. You either have a top or bottom mount. im assuming bottom cause its factory. Well anyways most factory speakers tend cause of the manufactures have alot of space not utilized by the drivers them self leaving some open space int eh factory holes. All you gotta do to get some better sounding out of your factory drivers is. Make a template that will fit int eh existing hole. And double side take that material you use to make a template with then so you have pretty much seal the compartment thatt eh driver is in. The problem is cause from the front wave and the back wave hitting at the same time. To get the most out of any interiors you wanna isolate the front and back and get an acustical seal. I granenteen you will hear it again and be like damn make sure oyu listen to the same song same volume and everything. I had a guy in a shop today tell me im god and thought i add speaker for his automobile out of kindness...... I just gave them a good seal and got them puppies in good phase. When you have open spaces between speaker on side like if you have a 6*9 on the rearand you just stick a 6 in there on each side you will have air pockets cause what i was describing... Speakers with this will start at 180 Degree out fo phase.. This is damn hard to fix without a good seal......I dont knwo if this was any help on gettin more out of your factory but ill try to get some pics of what im talkin about.... Or ill Ms Paint something
