newest bass build... totaly striped trunk!
well its time for a complete trunk rebuild!
no more typical boxes built for it. ive got the trunk all striped down to the metal and stock deadening......
gonna start chopen up MDF tomorow morning!
hopefully everything goes smoothly and i get at least half of it built or at least framed out....
box will be ported and sealed off from the trunk with port and sub firing into the cabin behind the rear seat........
single 12inch sub RE audio SX model. powered by orion D2400 1200watt rms mono channel amp.....
tho instead of my typical aero port im just gonna be doing a standard MDF port... i like aero ports BUT i dont have a bunch of tubing and such which id need for as much port area as id need.
plan on doing the trunk out realy nice!
first thing to build is the sealed off trim panels... which ill also use as a flush mount for the sub.... and so eventualy when i rebuild i can just pull the back plate off and drop in the extra subs
wanna do all black carpet of course
im also gonna strip the grey carpet off the back of the back seats for a beter matching flow
will probably take me ruffly a week id say off the top of my head BUT i will try to get it done as quick as i can thats for sure!!! i dont have any bass and well my name says it all. LMFAO
so far found a suprise............
more damaged areas to my civic.... NO WONDER my trunk seal hasnt been sealing!!!!!! [:@]
at least they did a good exterior job! i didnt know about it till i pulled the trunkcarpet out for the second time now...... tho whats kinda funny is the trunk lid is the original one to my knownedge at least! its got the proper VIN on it... but yet the metals all damaged on one side on the inside
ok well heres some pics of how she is right now striped.....
will be updated daily until its done and im happy with its looks and sound!
reason for sealing off trunk is to eliminate trunk rattling! hopefully this will work as good as ive heard it will.......

HOPEFULLY tomrow night ill be able to start uploading updated pics
and before anyone says... ya ya i know more added weight... BUT im not racing nor do i think my civics very fast anyways.LOL
i do what i gotta for my bass! and this time cosmetics are just as important...
last time i built a true cosmetic bass setup was about 3-4years ago and i think ive goten even beter at building....
heres a link to that setup i did on my realy old @ss towncar.LOL

bolting to the frame........... no no no.....
the setup will be braced to the car but nothing serious...
i ment at least having the basic shape/frame up.
i want to do a preaty loud instal and also a show worthy instal!
i think i got the majority of it planed out now...... should just have to go out and start building templets and start puting it togehter piece by piece....

well long morning it seems like with what doesnt look like alot.......
but was definatly alot of work....
quite a bit of measuring... cuting templets... cuting MDf then piecing piece by piece and remaking anything over and over till it fit properly!
BUT i believe most of the sealed off panels should be ready for finishing.....
after i put in some screws and everything is solid enough to move around ill slap some bondo in the joints front and back... tho back will be ruff just to help seal.... and the front will be all sanded smooth for alittle more rounded curve... mainly on the sides pieces going up.
but before al that bondo and sanding i just have to make sure i can pull it out in one piece!
then i have yet to cut the hole for the sub and port to fire thru.....
THO before you jump the gun this is only the trim panel....... after this is all built i have yet to build the subwoofer box which will be seperate, the sub hole cut out large enough for the mounting ring to sit flush with the trim ring.... and rounded for the port........
well enough talk.... heres the progress pics....

sure doesnt look like much..... but thiers alot of test fiting and rebuilting and test fiting again.
so far im preaty happy with how shes looken...
main thing i have to figure out now is where to fire the sub thru and where to fire the port thru........
so far im thinking sub on drivers side and port on the passenger side.
or sub in middle up high and port under the sub long ways.... have yet to decide. like always ill just have to stare at it for awhile to decide.LOL
this is more of a 3part build...... trim panel....... sub box..... the trunk side panels for amps.

no way to do one of those.LOL
its all custom... cut by cut.......
so many ways to go about it and you know most people arent gonna go this custom... they just throw a regular box in the trunk and wire it up.... prefab all the way
ill post progress pictures here. all my pictures taken are here
http://s40.photobucket.com/albums/e2...w%20sub%20box/
but im not gonna post them all direct.... just so many pics of all test fiting stuff...
so far hardest/WORST part about doing this build is climbing IN AND OUT of the trunk OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER... and did i metion OVER and OVER again....
my back and neck are already sore! tho geting in and out is only half the problem... then i gotta turn and twist to do all my work.
http://s40.photobucket.com/albums/e2...y1build012.flv
just got back from eating so back out to work again for alittle while.
i should hopefully be able to get this trim panel all secured together at least. then ill quite for the night and start building the main box tomorow night which will definatly take a few days to build! wish i had a nail gun!

Bolting it to the frame will make it even louder...
And safer.

ONE bolting it to the frame....... not gonna go that deep into the frame... just sheet metal and it will be secured to the vechile... BUT NOT THE FRAME....
and bolting it down will not help it being any louder. it just secures it to a fixed location.
my name is addiction2bass and all

plus thiers no way that the sub and such will be able to fly forwards and hit anyone due to this trim panel..... it wont be able to cross the rear seat back braces......... and the subwoofer and box will be screwed to it from behind the trim panel so it would have to push thru the trim panel which is HIGHLY unlikely even in the worst car wreck!!!!!!!!
im no ammature to my audio
im mainly just to broke to do the stuff i want to do! LOLif i had the money id be pushen at least two of these 12s, 2,400watts rms of power and alot beter interior speakers also amped.LOL thats my next purchase.... a amplifier for my current interior speakers. they already have a hard time keeping up! kinda funny cause in my truck my front components held thier own with 2 of these 15s and 2500watts... oddly enough.... same radio and speakers just dont seem that loud or sound that good! might be the small wiring or a inline amplifier if these hondas have them that is.....
I love RE's. Sweet choice.
What I meant by "it'll make it louder" is the sub will waste less energy moving/vibrating the box if it's secured. You obviously already took that into consideration though.
