i have sony xplod speakers. they sound really good. best sound for the money at the shop i went to.
No sir! You do not mention sony xplodes to someone with a $2000 budget, I wouldn't recommend sony xplodes to someone with a $200 budget.
this is true but cuting money in some places gains money for others

I would consider the highs the area to cut others for...WHats the point of having a great sub/head unit if you the speakers you listen with 80% of your hearing sounds like crap?

Whats up man. It seems like you are going in the right direction. What line of Boston speakers are those. If they are the pro series they are very well worth it. I had them in my old supra although it was the 6 speaker component set that I put in the doors they covered everything pretty well. I used to sell and install car audio equipment so hopeefully I can offer you some advice. Alpines are great decks although there radio reception could be a little better. Boston speakers are very good for the money. I would sell either those or Polk audio since it was the best of what we caried. Infinity and MB quartz are also very good products. I think 4 guage is a little overkill for 1 amp unless it can put out more than 600 watts. I also dont like the idea that they want to run all of the speakers off 1 amp. You would be better running the fronts and subs off the amp and leaving the backs going off the deck if it is a powered head unit. and then get another amp later when you can afford it to power the subs and then switch the rears onto the 4 channel. You might also want to add a capacitor down the line if you run 2 amps. I need 1 for my camry and I am only running a sub amp. The subs listed are entry level but they will get the job done. Also you dont heve to get everything done at once if you cant afford it. Dont skip on quality just to come in under a price range especially if you want good sound quality.

Concerning the Boston speakers, they are SL and SX series, not the Pro.

Doing some more research i decided just to go with Infinity subs. And also to go with the Infinity speakers instead of the Boston ones. I am paying 310 for the SL60 component ones, so I might as well get the Infinity KAPPA60.5CS everyone seems to love for 209.99. =P

I had a question though, I know the speaker size in the front is 6 1/2, and the one in the back is 6x9 right? Cause I recall the guy at the store telling me they are both 6 1/2.

Also, I should just get component speakers for the front, and then get a pair of coaxial speakers for the back? Is that what most people do?

Yah Infinities are a good choice. Cant go wrong with those speakers. Should be really crisp sounding. I dont have much experience with their speakers since we didnt carry them but a friend of mine back in the day had all kappas and his system sounded nice. I cant remember the speaker sizes but as I recall hondas are usualy 6.5 in the front and either 6.5 or 6x9 in the rears. Sorry I cant really tell you dont recall off the top of my head. If you can see the speaker from the front or back just look if its round (6.5) or oval (6x9) and you will have your answer or you might be able to find it onine somewhere like crutchfield or in this forum. You dont really need seperates in the back unless you like overkill IMO, in my supra I didnt even have back speakers. Most the sound you hear will be from the front the backs just kinda round it out. Did you figure out what to do with the amps yet? I am curious to know.

I haven't completely decided on what to do for the amps. Right now I'm kickin around the idea of just going with one large 4 channel JL amp to power front and sub, and using the deck to power the back.

I'd like to get a mono amp for the sub, but I don't know if I'll need a capacitor for sure , and I don't know how big of a mono one I'll need. Would the JL 500/1 mono amp be suffiecient for the 2 10's?

The 500/1 should be plenty of power. The capacitor really depends on your cars charging system if the alternato can supply enough power to run the car and the system at the same time. The Cap just helps to slow the power draw. For example I used to have about 2 amps in my old car when the bass hit at night I could see my head lights flicker after the cap it went away. Anyway if all you can get is just one amp them 2 front 2 sub combo should get you by in the mean time. Just try not to push the bass too hard untill you get that mono amp. Underpowering speakers can cause them to blow.
