I am in the process of replacing the orginal and nasty factory fit head unit with my new DAB radio..And what a pain in the **** it has turned out to be..can anyone point me in the direction of a guide or even help me out by telling me how I go about removing it...

so far I have removed the glove box, and can get my hand, tightly up and behind the unit, I have managed to remove the strorage tray below the radio..but as for the radio im stuck...

Im not sure for a 02, I havent worked on one in awhile. But for a 99 I can do by heart. The 02 might be similar. First remove the glove bpx and belly pan (drivers side). Look closely for screws. the glove box has 2 phillips head screws (all the screws do.) Remove those while the box is still clipped in. Now, remove the glove box. Also the belly pan has three screws, and its also clipped in. Your going to have to tug at it a little bit but dont do it furiously. Then remove the bottom console screws (that are now revealed). Dont forget to remove the clip to the power port. Now remove the 2 big screws under the main console in the frame. Now grab a wedge and use a towel so you dont mess up the plastic while you GENTLY tug/ pull the console out (yes a/c controls and all). As soon as you can get your fingers in there remove all the A/C clips and plugs. Now remove the console and set it down in your kitchen or garage on a soft suface (towel). Grab a wiring harness and a new radio and you are set!

So I do have to remove a load of stuff? The radio wont come out if I manage to get the tray out underneath it?? My partner has a 2001 Executive and wants to a cd changer and new head unit and I promised to sort it. Little did I realise it seems such a huge job!
So, to recap, glove box, facia panel under steering wheel and search for bolts then the whole unit comes out with climate controls and all???
Jeez!!

02, no need to remove glove box, just get the power socket out (the whole plastic piece, then there is 2 bolts to be removed under that, that is holding all your headunit, so once the 2 bolts are gone, you need to push out really hard to pop it out but dont give up, those are the only 2 bolts holding it trust me
