radio signal
hey all, when i wired up my head unit, i did the front left right speakers(thats all my car has right now) and then i did the yellow and red wires, everything on the head unit works (illumination, display, sound) but there is tuning for the radio signals, just static. Did i forget a wire for the radio or do i need to buy another type of wire to rig in for the radio? Or should my head unit have a built in tuner to signal to the antenna, or do i need an adapter?
Yeah theres a seperate plug, its kinda funny lookin, that comes from your car antenna, it either plugs into a wire comming out from the head-unit, or directly into the unit itself. Some have a hole for it right into the casing. Some require adapters as well, but you will be able to tell if it's going to fit or not.
hey nice cars guys, anyway, when u say wire, do u mean like a wire ill have to splice, because there is a radio antenna cable from my car, ill take a better look at the back of the hu tonight. Thanks for imput, and answer this question if u can thanks guys
It's not something you would need to splice into, it will have a little end, or tip sort of thing on it. I will find some pics and show you.
Ok, here are some pics. There are usualy 2 main options for an Antenna wire to be connected, both are listed below.

Option 1

Option 2

Typical large plug - found on hondas, that hooks into one of the above ports on your HU.

A small to large adapter that's sometimes required for certain cars that are equipped with a small end, and must be a large end to fit on an aftermarket stereo. This pic is just for another reference of what the plug will look like, found on the bottom right.
You also might wanna make sure your deck is set on FM, and in the tuner mode. I know sometimes mine goes to AM without me knowing about it, and all I get is static.
Hope that helps some.
