Default Remote for 98 LX

Wanting to put keyless entry and a new MP3 headunit in a 98 LX. I have read mixed reports that this model has a receiver and I just need to get a remote and program it. Can anyone confirm or deny this? Also I heard that the receiver might actually be in the stock CD player? How will this effect adding a new MP3 player?

Thanks!

the stock key less entry system in the 1998 civic is located in the stock radio , if you put a aftermarket radio in it you will loose that ability of using your key less , the fix is to keep the radio in the car and still install the after market radio.

when you take the radio out ( stock Honda radio ) you have to put in under the aftermarket radio , behind the cigarette lighter , you still have to keep the
oem radio powered up all it needs is a power , ignition , ground and remote wire here is a wiring harness you can use the harness is about 13$ made by metra and you can get it from best buy or circuit city-- pic below --

when you hook this harness up you can install your aftermarket radio and keep your stock radio

Ok, thats good to know about keeping the old radio. My main concern though is does the 98 LX have a remote receiver. I have heard some people say it does, and some say it doesnt. I would love to know for sure.

Yes, to unlock the doors. Since the LX didnt come with one (remote) I am trying to verify if it has the receiver or not.

Yeah I have a 98 Lx and I'm also wondering about this. Ive got an afertmarket on there and heard if you tuck the radio back and plugged in you can remote a keyless entry? But wasn't sure about all the details. Just want to know instead of going out and buying another keyless entry if there is already one in my car
