Default remote alarm

hello everyone!

i am new to this forum and would like help please.

i have just bought a 1992 civic esi and the remote for the alarm is not working.

i can turn it on and off with the key in the glovebox but cannot turn it off with the remote.

i have checked the battery and is ok.

why else would the remote not work (a light flashes on remote when i press it)

sorry to be a bit stupid!

am i missing something as the handbook does not say anything (it is a honda alarm)

Gswift,
It sounds as though your remote is to programmed to the alarm. This can happen when changing batteries. Before paying dealer to reset it try this: Turn ignition key to "on".
Within 15 seconds push a button on the remote ( the siren/horn shoud chirp and the LED will flash)
repeat process for each button.
