Default Repairing a cigarette lighter

I cut the cords to my cigarette lighter in the dash the other month to hard wire in some small neons. I cut the 2 neons off the one plug they were connected to, they were just 2 neons on a ciggarette lighter plug.

So I believe I had a green and a black wire. I hooked up the neons (don't remember how)... but it was def wrong. The neons were on for a few seconds, but when I put the radio and bezel and things back in, and the neons turned off, and the lighter wasn't working anymore. So I took off the neons (and threw them out), and reconnected the cords regularly to the ciggarette lighter. But it's not working at all. I changed the fuse under the dash... still not working. So it's been like that for a while now. Any suggestions?

Did the new fuse blow? If it did there's still a short in the wiring or in the socket.

Are you sure you replaced the right fuse? I think there is one for the relay and one that actually powers the lighter.
