Well I guess I have a lot to learn about sound system ...

.I just based my self on the numbers I have seen on the box of my amplifier . output power---1ohms: 1300W RMS
2ohms 900W RMS
4ohms 500W RMS

Well, the 500w is probably the amps ball park. Many audio companies highly overrate their products to do one thing, sell! Most times they will rate those things until they literally fry or explode or whatever happens. Then they will say it can handle up to that.

Ohms Law: P = IV so: 500 = I x 14 so I = 500/14 = about 36 amps.

Here are gauge ratings:

Gauge:Load(amps)
0 : 150
1 : 119
2 : 94
3 : 75
4 : 60
5 : 47
6 : 37
7 : 30
8 : 24
9 : 19
10 : 15
11 : 12
12 : 9.3

For 1300W the amperes would come out to be ~100. which puts you in the 2 gauge range. So I was off by 2 gauges, still wasn't bad for a guesstimation.
