speaker question 94 hatchback
Hey guys just a couple of questions regarding the front door speakers. Im looking to replace the stock speakers but am a bit confused about which size i need. Everywhere i look on the internet seems to say that this year civic has 6.5 inch speakers, but when i removed one the other day im sure the cone was 4 inches. Is there a difference for the uk versions of the car? also i was looking at these speakers as a replacement

anyone know if they are any good?
also how do i go about installing new speakers because i see that the stock ones have a big white clip thing on the end of the wire to connect to another clip which is on the speaker. obviously new ones wont come with these so is it just a matter if cutting the wire and soldering it to the speaker? sorry if that sounds really dumb im a bit inexperienced in this area.
Thanks

Speaker sizes are measured to the very outside edge of the metal, not the cone.
Depending on the depth of the new speakers you may be able to use the plastic baskets that the stock speakers are mounted in, or you may have to attach them directly to the door. The baskets are nice to keep because they keep any rain water that runs down the window out of the speaker.
Cut the plugs off of the stock speakers and splice them to the new ones, then plug them into the car.

hey thanks for the answers guys i actually took it in to a place yesterday and they recommended 4" in phase xt42's for the door speakers... which actually sound pretty sweet. the only problem now is that during certain bass frequencies the mirrror winders vibrate like hell which is damn annoying. anyone else had this problem and know if its just a matter of tightening them up?
