first thing that comes to mind is to make sure you got your speakers wired properly...double check to make sure everything is hooked up properly...positive to positive, negative to negative. I made that mistake by accident, I had no volume, no bass, no highs...just mud!

you can't turn head units up all the way without getting some distortion..not the average one anyway...becuase the amplifier thats built in is too restircted for space so its not built as good as it could be u need to get an external 4chanlle amplifier for ur speakers and then u wil be able to turn up ur head unit all the way and all it will do it get louder it'll be just as clear...

First off, never turn your HU more than 2/3s of it's max volume. Most HUs will begin to clip after that. Secondly, amp your speakers off an external amp. Thirdly components will get the volume you want. What's your price range?

You need external 4 channel amp, decent speakers to begin with, and someway to crossover, whether external crossover or from the HU....if you got 30hz tones coming out of your 6 1/2's its gonna sound like s--t all the time.

its not too hard. just wire the 2 sets of RCA cables to the front and rear pre-outs on the back of your deck. then just wrie the speaker wires that use to go into your HU into the amp. then just run your remote, ground and power wires accordingly. someone correct me if im wrong?

^^No you can't. Go get an O-scope and turn your HU all teh way up and watch it clip. There are maybe a few exceptions and very high quality units but very few people own them.
