Best buy kits have supposed shielding yadda yadda but you know what? It doesn't flippin matter
As long as you separate your wires correctly etc. then you'll be fine
it's not until you jump out of copper wires that anything really makes a difference
Plus, best buy ANYTHING is a massive ripoff
and about the RMS + PEAK
the hardest I laughed in my whole life involved me being at walmart looking for wires
I then overhear two dudes talking about what sub to get
One says, what about this one?
Other dude says, nah dude this one is better, it has 1000 watts and that one only has 800
there was a point where I would get mad hearing that but at that point, I laughed so hard I made a scene, especially with these two dudes dressed in baggy *** **** and what not thinking they're all that
Even better yet, I step outside to see their civic with vent fenders all bondo'd up with altezza everything and basically a stereotypical ricer **** car
(no offense to anyone who has this, of course)

i would say go with 2 12" Rockford Phosgate P2's and a kenwood 1K watt amp and a ported box. I have that setup but with a sealed box and it hits hard as hell plus would be in a 17 yr olds price range especially if you buy from a wholesaler on ebay like i did

Does anyone have a DIY for making custom boxes or trunks, because i think that would be easiest instead of going and buying the new carpet, and just making it. My guess was to use thin plywood, but I'm afraid it would be too heavy. I just need to cover up the place where the sparewheel goes, and around the sides, just so it looks good with the suicide trunk kit. And of course put a black carpet over the plywood. Any other suggestions would be great!

do not use plywood to build a box.....use a styrofoam box and watch it explode to pieces when the sub hits (lol).

haha sorry I just thought plywood would not be the best idea, but something I could end up doing myself. I measured my new sub box though and it should fit, and ill just find some carpet from a junk yard or on here for the inside.

I build custom subwoofer enclosures. I use computer software to fine-tune the box to match your specific subwoofers' physical and acoustic properties. It's all very scientific. I can even make the box complement the type of music you listen to. I can tell you how loud the box will sound in your car before I build it. And best of all, it will fit your trunk any way you like.

I can do all of this, hand made with a professional look, for $100 - Shipped. Let me know.

HAHA! Nice...

I love building speaker boxes, it's one of my favorite hobbies. I usually do it for free for my friends and family. $100 covers the price of shipping and materials.

I'm just using this as an excuse to build another box on my day off. But if it makes you feel better, I can raise the price to something more "Believable", Send you pictures of my previous work and my wood shop and display "addiction2bass" on a piece of paper in all of these photos.

I use bassbox pro 6.2 to design my boxes. And I certainly don't use plywood. 3/4 MDF is what you have to use. $25/sheet at home depot.
