Subs in a hatchback!?!
I have 2x12s that came out of my last civics trunk that I want to put in my hatchback. My problem is findinga good place to put them without losing space. I got the hatchback because I need the space to move my guitar amp for shows. The only idea ive had is to fiberglass them into the back lower corners of the hatch area so I still have the middle free for space. Has anyone else ever put them any where else? Maybe in the back of the front seats or under them some how?
To be honest, just downgrade to a single sub
two subs is stupid in a hatch, it won't sound good and you'll go deaf
the only reason you'd want the boom is to show off, anyone who denies this is probably a liar
Yeah, I did enjoy feeling the rattle and the idea of me having "power" in my car, but it's not worth it, and like i said will sound like **** and isn't worth your hearing
get a single sub
otherwise if you don't want that option...
open up your floor board, remove your spare tire, and that way the subs will be literally in the floor of your car if you can make the enclosure correct, considering you mentioned fiberglass im sure you can

i dont care if anyone likes or dislikes my bass! i love the intense BOOM and back massage it sends thru your body.
hearing loss...... ya ya ya we have all heard that crap..... JUST LIKE SMOKING CAUSES CANCER... but guess what people still smoke for no reason..... the exhaust from your GAS ENGINES are creating global warming and polluting the earth but well you know what im thinking.LOL
same thing with alcohol....
but its our bodies no one can tell me THATS BAD YOU SHOULDNT HAVE IT..... its like telling a child dont slam doors. WE GONNA STILL DO IT even without thinking of it. LMFAO
i think youve made your point enough on this forum about how bad loud stereos can be to your hearing.
END RANT....
but if you have a hatchback and need room i would highly sugest selling your old subwoofers and finding a nice SQ single subwoofer. in a hatchback you have no kind of deadening to filter out the odd noises coming from most typical cheaper subwoofers! it would basicaly sound just like your old system when you opened the trunk and listened to the bass from standing infront of the subwoofers...
trunks almost always sounds beter than hatchbacks with the same equipment because in a coupe those wierd harsh noises get filtered thru the backseat and rear deck, as well as the bass reflection off the back of the trunk lid seems to increase the bass note alittle louder.
i dont say this much BUT for a nice SQ/ sound quality if ya didnt know. id say a nice JL subwoofer one of the higher models of course. ive heard good things from W6 and W7s...
ive only used some old JL W1s and they sucked but for such a low model what do you expect i only paid like 30bucks shiped for it.LOL
but i was planing on a W7 13inch sub if i had found a hatchback.
lol, which is why I said that yeah I did enjoy it at a point too but it's not worth it
and you know what? Just like smoking, it's not worth it, and if you're aware of the risks and still do it, well either you don't give a **** about your health or you're dumb
I don't feel bad telling people they're stupid for listening to loud bass etc, because if you don't want to listen, hey it's your ears not mine
But being only 20 years old, and having already lost over 50% of my hearing due to my previous systems, drumming, and stage performances, do you know what it's like?
Maybe if you truly went through losing 50% of your hearing you'd understand, it's indeed not worth it
your girlfriend tells you she loves you, only to hear back "could you repeat what you said?"
a customer at your work place inquires about your checking accounts, then you tell them what time it is
An officer or ambulance has sirens blazing behind you, you can't hear it, and you don't even have your system on
you constantly ask someone on the phone to speak louder for you because you screwed up your hearing too much to know what they're saying
and also about the child slamming doors reference
are you really going to make a comparison of a grown adult to an 8 year old child?
because if you're equating maturity and intelligence to a kid well...alright lol
I have no idea how old you are or anything but i'm guessing you haven't lost too too much hearing yet
I mean yeah I liked the vibrations and all but...it's unrealistic, being an audiophile, and realizing how disproportionate the bass is to the song, it just doesn't make sense in my head. I want to hear the rest of my music too, if i still want that boom well...I upgrade the power to my regular speakers too
which is why im going to ditch my full alpine system, the efficiency sucks

i have 2 subs in my hatch...takes up the whole back end...and i agree with everythign imshirazy says.....he is right on
i seriously just have subs to show off to my friends. i can turn them down, which i do, but in the end they just get turned back up everytime i want to show off.
i think you would be better off with just 1 sub and some hatch space would be spared.
