I'm about to buywoofers for my civic. I think I've narrowed the brands down to Sony Xplod, MTX and Hifonics. It's either going to be 3 - 10 inch or 2 - 12 inch. I just don't know what are good technical aspects likesensitivity and frequency and the amount of ohms.

 

sony xplode are s***. you might as well buy a pair of new 6x9 cause theyll hit louder than that, + tha search button should come in handy. i just bought some kicker comp vrs of ebay a pair brand new for 145 bucks and there pretty loud

 

2-12s will be a lot easier to hook up and get good ohm loads with.

i wouldn;t touch the hifonics, some mtx's are good but not all, and some sonys are ok, but im not a huge fan. i had some sonys a while back and got rid of them they weren't very clean. my favorite is alpine

i have alpine everything, and i loveit waaaaayyyy more than the sonys i used to have. and yes i said "it", i have one 12 alpine type r and it sounds way better than my 2 sony 12s did. and it hits just as hard if not harder. the only thing thats not alpine in my car is the mono amp, and thats just cuz i dont have the money to buy a new one.

getting 2 type r's would sound badass, or even one type x. some poeple will go against me on that, but my preference is alpine. a lot of people will say jl, while they are good subs, they are way too expensive for me.

i would say for a ridiculously loud aand clean system, get 2 12" type r dual 2-ohm voice coil subs (SWR-1222D), and an amp that pushes around 1000 watts RMS at 2 ohms. a good alpine amp would be either the PDX 1.1000 or if you dont have that much money, the MRP-M850 would work great too.

 

If you have the money I would highly reccomend Kicker Solo-Baric's I have 1 12" Solo-Baric L5 in my car and it rattles every window in my house and all the neighbors around as well.

 

What if I got Pdx 4.150 Amplifier or anything higher than a 1.1000. For the subs do you recommend Type S or is it just R and X?

 

stick with the type r or x, they have a lot higher rms power handling and will be capable of beinglouder.

the 4.150 would be good for regular speakers, but it wont be the best to push subs. its only 600 rms as opposed to the 1.1000 whih is 1000. and they are roughly the same price.

you really dont need more than one 1.1000 unless you run more than one type x, its 1000 rms ampand the type r's are 500 each, and the type x is 1000. anymore than 2 type r's or one type x would be completely obnoxious. and i personally wouldn't want to spend that much money.

 

well my vote for everything is kicker, never heard a alpline but i own kickers and they slap with an old kenwood 600 watt amp, i cant imagine how loud it will be when i get my 1500 watt amp. so if you want bass thats loud and sounds good for cheap kicker.
