Default Are there problems with 92 civic's Radio Reception

Hello,

A while ago I took out the old factory radio replaced it with Awai from another car I had. I thought that would fix the poor reception I would get but it didn't. I replace the antena with the new one(Honda antena) and that did not help. I want to buy another radio but is uselss if I can't get good reception. Does anyone have any suggestions. It is not where I live due to that my wifes car gets every station .

Thank you,

When replacing the antenna did you replace the cable that provides the signal to the head unit as well? Cos the cable could have frayed or something, thus leaving it open to interferance from other cables and stuff..

Buy a radio with satelite radio. Most new pioneer decks hae them a long with most other brands. There not that expensive either. You can even check ebay or any other sites. I get great reception and i dont even have it connected to my antenna.

Have you checked to see if the antenna cable going to the head unit is connected properly? or if the antenna cable is near anything else that could cause interferance?

The connection is tight plus I taped it in long time ago to assure that this would not pop out. As for interference this model has the antenna on the roof of the car driver side. It runs down the driver side pillar over the steering wheel column and to the center were the head unit is. [/align]

You did extend the antenna when trying to listen to the radio right?!?[8D] j/k

The only time I have a reception problem in my 94 is when I forget to take the antenna out. With all the things that you've tried idk what to tell you. Sry meng.

I have the same issues with my 97. I installed a new antenna and cable, still can't get too good reception, unless i am dead up in the city around the transmitter.

I say Plus 1 for XM, thats what I did. Now I can at least have some clear channels to listen to. I know it's a sucky monthly payment, but you will love it when you get it. Some variety is nice, but you miss alot of local news.

Hope it shapes up!
