Default Think I blew my sub

On the way home today i was playing my music and then all of a sudden everytime the bass hit there was a weird rattle almost sounded like paper crunching. Anyways I didnt think much of it just thought it was sumthing in my trunk. But then out of no where, BAM no bass. So when i got i check it out and the sub was like pushed out. I pushed it back in and then tried the slap out again....It mad that rattle noise like b4, but still hit just as hard as it used to. So whats my problem? If I have to get a new sub im just going to sell the box and amp and end my day of loud music. lol

if you push down directly in the center, does it make a scraping sound?

Yeah you can recone it, but i don't know if that will fix the problem.....you might have something stuck in the pole vent, or your amp may be flippin out.

There's a LOT of possibilties lol

well if you push down on the cone then the subs rattling goes away and it works again then MOST LIKELY your clipping your subwoofer from the amplifiers gain turned up to high.. been there done that...
remove the subwoofer from the box and then inspect the tensil wires for any black spots or frayed spots... if you do simply use a soldering iron and a TOUCH of solder right on that black/frayed spot... not to much solder just enough to make that spot solid again... if you use to much solder on the tensin it wont be able to flex enough and it will be ripped from the subwoofers cone!

BUT if you push down on the subwoofer and hear a scraping/grinding noise then the sub is trash.... just throw it away or take it apart to look at the internals just for the hell of it
