Well as far as the tweets go, they really dont have to be pointed at your head. The acoustics of your car will make up for the angle. I wouldnt mess with fiberglass unless I was making a speaker pod for the floorboards. TRUST me when you flush the tweeters on your door panels the install will look sweet! The tweets should come with mounts that should swivel a little bit.

As far as the deadening, its personal preference. A speaker kit would do fine for just the back of the 6.5, but for all around sound do the whole inside of your door. It will also improve the sound of you closing your door. It almost sounds like closing a beamer door. TOit like a toiger! (its not necessary to cover the whole inside of the shell, place one on the inside behind speaker just enough to kind of "cup" the 6.5) You can do a whole door sparingly and achieve maximum sound deading by covering the area between the panel and the door shell, it seals the interior of the car. YOU dont have to fill all of the insides of the door!

Hey, thanks for the pointers, I definitely appreciate the help. I think what I'll do is position the tweets around and find a sweet spot for them.

So here's my plan, I'm definitely going fairly budget here, but anything will improve my sound. I decided to take $300 of my tax return and use it towards car stereo stuff which I know is way cheapo, but whatever. So here's my idea... I already own a 2x60w RMS Pioneer Amp and a 2x10" Pioneer sub (again, cheapo stuff). I'm going to take the amp and use it for front component speakers instead and wait on the sub until I can buy a slightly better amp to power the subwoofer a little better (besides, I really need some trunk bars, I don't even have a spare tire and the sub would just fall through the particle board trunk piece). Then, I'll spend the $300 like so (open for pointers, btw):

This leaves me with $100-$120 or so left for my front speakers. I went to a car store today and checked out a few pairs. I actually really liked the sound of the Infinity Reference 6020cs which can be found for $100. I'm quite curious about the Polk Audio db6501 which has high reviews on Crutchfield, but I can't find them anywhere to listen to... I don't know anyone who's owned a Polk Audio product so I'm guessing I should go with what I liked in the store.

For what it's worth, I really liked the Focal 165A1 speakers which really surprised me since the tweets are aluminum, but they are $165 on ebay anyways... maybe I should save an extra $50... argh, decisions.

Anyways, overall, does this seem like decent logic? Then, later down the line I can get the subwoofer installed?

You know, I also don't know if I asked already.... how dry does the typical 99 Honda Civic door stay? Just curious about the baffle thing. I don't think the original owners ever had speakers installed, so the door shouldn't be missing any screws or clips or have been bent or anything. I just wanna plan ahead before taking the panel off and dynamatting the door...

Baffles question... I dont even have the grills on my civic front doors(didnt come with the car) and I bought some cheap jensen paper cones over 2 years ago and have been in the car since day 1 of me owning it ( didnt have any speakers) and I have not had 1 single issue of them getting wet or even punching holes in them. I truly think that is a myth unless you are going to turn your car into a submarine...

 

By the way for components I would check out alpine... I am a big fan of their stuff... look at the type-s component system

ETA: I removed the pin stripes right after I took the first photo because when I went to look at the car, it didn't have them and the dealership added them as part of their "dealer prep package".

 

I only listened to the type S Alpines and I really didn't care for them much. However, I mostly listen to metal-style music, lots of guitar with crazy drums. Course I like my rap here and there too. As far as the Alpines though, maybe it's just the way they sounded in the showroom, maybe they sound better in a car. I'm gonna take a trip to Frys tomorrow night I think to listen to some Polk audio speakers...

I went with the CDT TW-25 tweeter because it just dropped right on in there

 

LOL, well, I guess I wish I had an EX. I'll do the flush mounted tweets on the door since it's unlikely I'll find an EX at a junk yard (couldn't hurt to look though). I'm sure they will look badass flush mounted, though hole-sawing kinda scares me.... maybe laying down masking tape will help keep the panel vinyl from ripping in an odd manner.
