Default weee parts arrived

kay, headunit, amp sub, etc arrived in the mail today (yay!)... gonna start getting things prepped for tomorrow... daylights dwindling and i have no garage, so i work via daylight[:'(]

I have an ek(i think) civic... 97 hatch, and according to the internets on one site the person recomended taking appart most of the dash... can't find my haynes manual to see what it says (go figure the day parts arrive the manual goes missing... its probly in my car under my seat or something).

I could take it to some shop to have them install it... but wheres the fun/satisfaction in that?! (plus i'm on a budget, and doing a stereo doesn't scare me in the least)

Thanks in advance!

you dont have to take apart the dash. just the panel under the steering column (3 screws), and the panel in the middle under the radio with the 12 volt plug on it (6 screws). then there are 2 10mm bolts holding the radio from the back, then it slides right out. only thing tht is any trouble is gettin at a good angle to get the 2 10mm bolts. prolly make it easier to pull down the glove box

yeah i forgot i only have a lil LED flash light... it works great for reading maps/haynes manual... buuut... i woulda preferred a larger one... or one that had a clip... but anyways head unit installed!

now just to wait for my amp's install kit(cables really) and the whole thing will be setup!

already i can tell it sounds waaay nicer, also found out that whereever the previous owner got her cd changer installed did a horrible horrible job... i can't find the original ai-net cable that shoulda came with it(mind you i've not poked my eyes at the changer itself) they didn't attach the antena back into the stock unit(why?!... its right there... plug it in!) soo right now i'm going around double checking the speakers making sure they are setup correctly... sounds a little off in the front two speakers, like ones got its polarity flipped (why am i not too surprised)

but yeah headunit is Alpine's CDA-9885 w/ ipud cable going to the glove box (so its outa sight), gettin the hang of the player, its nice and straightforward

and I figure i'll put a cone up behind my rear view mirror... if i can get the ring to bend enough for it to go on and stay decent.
