Default will my speakers work with this amp?

i recently bought some MMC690 4ohm 100wattRMS and 300wattpeak speakers...

I have a (KAC-7201) 2 channel kenwood 150wattRMSx2 @4ohm and 800watt peak.

would it be a good idea to wire the amp to the speakers??

or would i blow them up...

I'm kind of sad because i have this amp sitting around, and i want to use it!! ahh.... if it doesn't work then i'll trade with a lower RMS amp!

but the main question.... can i hook that amp up to my speakers?

ha, you are correct, i really don't have much experience, but my sister's bf is a car salesman/auto dude and he's probably going to put it in for me....

but before that i want to know if i have the right equipment before he comes to work on it so i don't look like a complete dumbass 16 year old.

ok

THE AMP: http://www.cardomain.com/item/KENKAC7201

my speakers http://www.cardomain.com/item/POLMMC690

i hope that helps, thanks Remmy

Sure, that will work fine. Those arent bad components. I was worried you scored some random pawnshop special. Now, why would you want to power your back speakers only? That doenst make any sense. You should power all of them (even in the door) to get a balanced sound. Your 2 channel wont power 4. Well, technically wont. But if I were to tell you how to do it you will be more confused than a 3 year old who just caught his parents makin' babies.

Remember, you arent really trying to put an amp just to make them louder. The more power you stick behind a speaker the more efficient and better it will sound. Now I didnt mean that by cranking the amp as far as it will go because the amp will show those speakers who's boss.

Here is another tip for you about amps and speakers. Never buy a speaker or amp by its maximum power. Buy them by the RMS power. That is a rule of thumb that they distort at that level. A speaker that is pushed over its RMS level can be damaged.

right on man!

the reason why i'm only powering the back speakers is because i only have that amp to work with.... i randomly bought it off of ebay thinking i'd use it for a sub (400RMSx1 @4ohm) like a really good infinity perfect sub since they run at 4ohm and require like 500RMS....

but now i'm waiting to get a sub and i'm just going to push these bad boys...not too hard.... for a couple months until i scrape up some more dough.

so i decided on just using this amp for the speakers i have right now. eventually i'll get an amp for my front speakers ( http://www.cardomain.com/item/PIOTSA1681R ) also.

this is just what i have to work with right now...

but thanks for all of the help. since this amp is more powerful than the speakers and all i will watch myself when using the volume ****.

Just because it says 500rms doesnt mean it requires that. It probably only requiers 3 watts to move. 500 rms is the point to where it will distort...remember?

yea, i totally understand. but i'm not going to be buying a sub/box/new headunit with subwoofer controls for like 5 or 6 months.

so i'm going to use the amp for something right now cus since i don't have sub controls on this cheep JVC headunit that came with the car.

so my system right now is

JVC headunit like bottom of the barrel, no bells/whistles on this head
Pioneer 4way 6 1/2" up front powered from the headunit
Polk Carbon fiber 6x9's in the back powered by the Kenwood amp

it'll be sufficient for right now, but like come christmas or something i'll have

a new headunit w/ sub controls
same front and back speakers both powered by either the same or different amps
an audiobahn or power acoustik sub powered by its own amp.

Thanks for your help remmy.

haha alright, come to think of it... yea my friend has an audiobahn and it just sounds liek someone is farting really loud all of the time.

probably the most muckyiest / sloppy sound i've ever heard

what was i thinking writing that i want an audiobahn....

the power acoustik **** looks freaking crazy, but i'm probably going to go with an infinity sub. crutchfield has a buy one get one free infinity perfect 12" right now. i hope they have that same sale in a couple months! later.

For your first go round, I think 2 10" Infinity Kappa Perfects IN A SEALED BOX will make you happy. Im almost 100% positive many here will back that advice up with my track record in this forum.
