XM Radio Installation, 2006 EX w/ Nav
Hello,
I searched around for an answer to this already in the forum. I came up with one post concerning it, but didn't have a definite answer. So, here's my question. I have a brand new 2006 Civix EX Sedan with the Nav builtin. The head unit says it is XM Ready. I called my local dealer and he quoted me $449 for a satellite antennae, tuner (mounts in the trunk), and a mounting bracket for the tuner. This is before installation costs. Somebody else in the forum mentioned only having to buy the antennae for $99. What exactly do I need to get XM radio in my Civic? I would think that the nav unit would have an XM tuner built in if it's "XM Ready". Anybody know what the deal is? Thanks in advance.

RE: XM Radio Installation, 2006 EX w/ Nav
ok, I have in front of me the brochure for the 2006 coupe/Si (not the sedan). What it says is that the EX and Si models are "XM Ready" -- "pre-wired to accept the dealer-installed accessory XM Satellite Radio hardware." AND it says the navigation models HAVE XM -- they are not just "XM Ready" -- and you get a 3 month trial. Now I don't understand how they could give you a free trial if you need to pay for the antenna. Sorry I don't have a more definitive answer, I know there is someone else here who has the navigation system and might be able to help. Also Firespirit works at a Honda dealer and might be able to get you the info.
