for anyone interested, check out www.scca.com. theres a link towards the top of the page in the middle that says "find a region near you". u should be able to find atleast 1 regionwithin a couple hours of u depending on where u live. some regions may have autox some may only have other sorts of racing such as rallyx...just look around.

i cant wait for next month. im doing a novice racing school (incorporates level 1 and 2 in one day) on march 7th. then i have race on march 17th, my friend with that black Legacy GT also has a schweet 2.5RS that he said he'll let me co-drive. since he runs it in STS, ill have to run my car in some other class in which ill prolly get pwned. o well, running the RS will make up for itthen on march 25th theres just a test & tune autox (non-comp/non-points). after the racing school, ill have the azenis on my car just in time for the summer season

most of the stickers he kinda has to have on there since he's sponsored. his main sponsor, if u havnt guess already, is RaceComp Engineering.

I know this is dumb, but how does the sponsoring thing work, if they're paying money, why is his car basically stock?

 

he told me that being sponsored is like having another job, cept not as major. they always test their products on his cars and he gives them feedback. its alot of work and time on his part but in return he gets either free or really good discounts. they arnt paying him to race, he still pays entry fees and all that but they do give a lot of support for parts and such. his cars arnt stock, they just arnt as heavily modded like u would think a drag car would be. he has w/e parts that he needs and that the class he chooses to be in will allow.he dosnt need tons of aftermarket stuff to be fast, trust me, hes a damn fast driver. o btw, those are his daily drivers too. he switches between the GT and the RS. he drives around dry/rain/snow on R Compounds everyday too...he also has a E30 that has i believe a 10 point roll cage in it but he uses that mainly for road racing and every once in a while to autox with..

tater, i'd love to be sponsored but im no where near good enough haha. also depends on the sponsor and what kinda deals i get. i dont wana have a big a$$ decal across my car if im not getting some good stuff out of it lol.

 

yeah that car's not stock, it may LOOK stock from the outside but it's not.

things you can do and be legal for STS class, generally speaking: intake, header, exhaust, shocks, springs, sway bars, strut bars, rotors, brake pads, roll bar/cage, seats, harness, short shifter, wheels up to 7.5" wide, tires w/ treadwear > 140, etc etc, basically the engine has to stay stock internally, but many other things are open for modification. I wish I got some of that stuff for free!
