The raw format editing looks cool. I would definitely have a use for that at work, especially if it keeps the file size small. But it's going to have to be gooood to get me to switch from Photoshop.

Second of all, your opinion seems to differ greatly from those of working professionals who actually EDIT video: Flame > Avid > Edius > Premiere Pro > Vegas > FCP. Sorry.
Nothing can or will. You just don't know enough about PS to know what it can do, and it's already the industry standard.

ITS PART OF MY FREEKIN MAJOR!!!
and i didnt say in a single day it would, or that thier will never be PS anyplace in the world again, but yes it will take over as the industry standard. and even IF id stayed single platform, what are the hands down best computers for that kind of work ,macs. cant even argue that, PS was originally made for Mac. in fact it took them 4 years before they finally made version for both.

and no my opinion is backed up DIRECTLY from professionals who FILM,EDIT,DIRECT,CRITIQUE,AND WRITE FILM.Some of while who hate macs but still agree that FCP is the best.
Well, surprise surprise. You're in college. Now could you possibly string together a coherent sentence?
I have some news for you: I'm also in a B.A. program relying heavily on both PS and a good editing platform (i.e. Premiere). 3D animation and virtual reality. Macs don't have enough power to run 3ds max or Maya at an actual production-quality level, and they can't handle high-poly mesh nearly as well as AMD CPUs. For a renderfarm, any production house with half a brain uses strictly UNIX-based systems with custom OSs and GUIs programmed in-house. And once again, you're relying solely on word of mouth in saying it's better on Macs. Nothing can stand up to an Athlon 64 X2 anymore, much less two of them. If Mr. Jobs had the marbles to test a quality dual-X2 based system against his best IntelMac, it would mop the floor with his system for all the world to see.
You can't say it's going to take over. Period. You are not precognitive, you don't work for either Adobe or Apple, and you sure as hell don't have the kind of connections necessary to actually KNOW what happens in the industry.
If FCP is the best, why don't they use it at ILM (where I have an apprenticeship next summer) or any other big-name production or post-production house? Because Mac's aren't powerful enough.
FCP may be the best if you're running a Mac, which isn't saying much, since A) no quality NLEs are made for Mac anyway, and B) Apple finally admitted their products weren't up to par and began using Intel CPUs. The differences between Macs and Windows systems are going out the window now anyway, since Apple has started using quality display adaptors (ATI, nVidia) and quality CPUs.
AMD > Intel > Apple (R.I.P.)
Sorry.

Sorry.
ok well this arguement is never going to end, all i can say is you wait and see. i also might not have stressed that i use PS every day and love the program to death.
no on to your fight about apple not being powerful enough for 3dsm....
http://www.apple.com/powermac/
and thats the new g5..Steve dualed the first g5 vs your amd64 and mac kicked its ***. now yes, mac figured out that intel makes cheeper chips that run much cooler and would be better off investing in those and switching over, but AMD chips are far from amazing, they have so many heating issues and thats even if the standard person can get the thing to start.
apple>intel>amd...however i think its stupid to even try to compair because they all have different pros and cons.
