Oh i know that, i was just wondering if the valve cover came stock with a coat of paint, which im sure it did, but its grey.

You can get aircraft remover at Auto Zone and Wal-Mart, its just paint stripper lol

The stock cover on my 99 EX is bare aluminum, the DOHCs and older SOHCs have paint on them.

Your valve cover will get warm, but not really HOT... plenty of people just paint it with regular spray paint and it holds up fine.

you could either use paint stripper or have it sandblasted for $10-15 bucks.

I paid $60 for my valve cover (installed). It's powder coated and still looks flawless after 3 years... a little more expensive, but just another option...

ya SIMPLE GREEN FTW......
or paint remover if it has any paint on it..
that stuff kicks @ss... tho i would recomend cleaning the inside to just for the hell of it

also new valve cover seal as well as puting a dab of sealer around the cam lobes to prevent oil leaks.

also if you want to polish the raised lettering..... polish it first and then CHAP STICK on the raised lettering and after its all dry simply use your finger nail to flake off the paint on the raised lettering to show that polished lettering... LOOKS GREAT!!!!!!!!

and the chap stick trick worked great for me! just put it on with a cotten swap or something so you can do it very precise.
