a few times i have had trouble getting a few water spots out, or getting all those bugs off the front of my black car. somethen that worked like a dream for me was a little bit of gas on a towel. rub where needed then i just washed the area right after, and the bug splat was gone.

 

ive heard of that method before but never had the ***** to try it acctually what works for me with bugs is something called a bug sponge...its like a sponge you wash your car with but with a mesh thing around it. its pretty sweet and highly recommended.

 

Yeah it takes off tar as well....though I don't recomend using it. There are much safer, and well with todays gas prices CHEAPER methods of getting bugs off. Keep in mind it's taking any wax off you may have had on the car too.

 

Dude, warm water and soap ONLY!

It might seem like the gas is a real time saver, but the reason the bugs come off so easily when you put gas on them is because the gas isn't disolving the insects, its DISOLVING THE SURFACE OF YOUR VEHICLE.

Gasoline is a really powerful solvent and unless you plan on repainting your car some time soon, I'd suggest that you only put that stuff in your fuel tank. I mean, would you go to the trouble of painting your house only to hose it down with paint-thinner to clean it? Because that's what you're doing when you clean your car with gasoline.

Spend the extra time and elbow grease and stick to soap and water. You'll save yourself a couple grand on a new paint-job in the long run.

If you're having a REALLY tough time getting bug splat off, just use the friction from the drying towel (make it squeek) and it'll rub the bug guts off.
