1.6 Timing

Default 1.6 Timing

So from what I'm reading to set timing on my 1.6 manual trans civic all i need to do is line up the red mark on the pulley with the red pointer on the motor, is this correct? I know i need to be set at 12 plus or minus 2,,, Can you all help me?

HELP!!!!

There's a pointer on the oil pump housing which, if I remember correctly, you align with the woodruff key slot on the end of the crankshaft.

I think the OP is asking about how to set the ignition timing not the mechanical timing. If so, warm the engine up, make sure it is idling to spec, jump the 2P service connector, and use a timing gun to align pointer with red mark by turning the distributor.
