Default 1992 Civic ELD

Can anyone tell me how to find the Electronic Load Detector in a 1992 Civic? It sure doesn't seem to be in the same place as the picture in the Haynes manual.

Thanks in advance

It all began with the insrtument lights flashing when I hit the brake. Then, the speedometer would drop everytime the brakes were pressed...then the speedometer died completely and the car became nearly undrivable. It will idle fine, but will not accellerate. In addition, if I try to use anything electric at all it will kill the engine. I replaced the alternator a couple of months ago so I am assuming that is not the problem. I looked in Haynes and my symptoms seem to fit a malfunctioning ELD... poor divability and elec. problems. Any suggestions are welcome.

Well i had a simalar problem in my 97 HX and the problem was five bad alternators and one bad fuse. The fuse was an sp sensor fuse. Did you find the eld if so check it with a volt meter as it says in the haynes manual. When i had this problem mine tested fine. I spent like $700.00 tryin to find out what my problem was I was mad as hell when my buddy found that blown fuse and everything was fine and still has been ever since then except for junk alternators.

Dang dude that sucks. At least you didn't have to spend $700 more when you found the problem.

Thanks for the help. I had some time to mess with it today and found a solution. The cable that links the battery and the alternator corroded. It was covered by insulation so I didn't see it. All the other (electical) problems were side effects from the low voltage of the battery throwing the computer off. I had a great education on tracking through the electrical system.
