Default 2000 SI Rev limiter

Hi guys, i'm new to this, i just bought a civic. 2000 civic SI-G, 5spd, D16Y8 motor. Does anyone know if there is any company that will deal with removing the rev limiter? or if it's even possible, right now it revs to 7400rpm. Thanks.

everyone on this site will tell you UNLESS YOUR MOTOR IS BUILT TO HANDLE THE HIGHER REVING......

DONT MESS WITH THE REV LIMITER!!!!!
if you do your gonna blow your motor REALY FAST..... turn a perfect motor into a pile of shratnel and scrap metal!!!!!!

there are ways to do it, but, do you want to just raise it some, or remove it completely? why?

ok seriously, take a minute to stop and think. "Why would a car company put a rev limiter on an engine?" Hmmm ever occur to you theres a good reason? Well, as you might expect, THERE IS! As addiction2bass pointed out, you'll turn your motor in to a pile of sh*t. Theres not really any reason you need to be reving that hight, there is a certain point when you engine stops making power, especially with a stock cam(s) in it.

LOL...So EXPLAIN to us exactly why you think removing the rev limiter on a Y8 will make you faster or give you more power. (like said above) They come that way stock for a reason and you start losing peak power after so high of RPM's anyhow. Plus since you said your new to this Im guessing you have not searched the forum or researched this or you would already have known its dumb to mess with the stock limiter unless your motors built to handle that.

Use the search feature, that's why its there.

Civic Dx 349 i'm new to civics, but i ain't dumb with cars, i know that the rev limiter is there for a reason, and that u ain't gonna get any more power after 7400rpm, but looking at my previous car, it wouldn't push all power even before the rev limiter would engage with the limiter being there, so i was thinking it might be the same for the civic.
