My CEL turns on after i drive about a mile or two, after i shut my car off the light wont be there when i turn the key again. How would i go about checking the codes if the light is not on until i drive the car a ways?? Is it safe to jump those 2 wires when the motor is running? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

theres no wires to jump....just pull your pasenger side carpet back close to the fire wall and the ecu is there...u will see a little red led flashing...turn the key to the on position without starting the car..the light will flash once to show u its on..the the following flashes will be the codes...count the number of flashes..sit there for a few min and count it again...if your throwing more then one code it will show...it will stop for a second or 2 after each code..when it stops..start counting from 1 again..then come back and tell me how many times its flashing...and ill tell u the problem
